Networking Skills Workshop Next workshop: Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 11:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., at the NDCC office, 10707 Preston Road. The workshop is offered at noon the second Tuesday of each month and the topics change each session. This session's topic: "Business Does Grow on Trees: How to Proactively Turn Your Network Into a Referral Generation System." Networking Skills is one of the most popular workshops the chamber sponsors. Lunch is included for $5 for members and $15 for prospective members. Lunch and registration begin at 11:45 a.m. The interactive workshop is led by facilitators Alice
Dykeman, Dykeman Associates and Michael Stammer, JUMProductions, who
discuss networking skills for about one hour, followed by a half hour
of practice. Ms.
Dykeman was recently presented with the Norman P. Teich Award by the
Dallas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America for her dedication
to public service. (Link requires free registration). History: The Networking Skills Workshop, started through the Chamber’s Small Business Committee in l990, it is the longest continuous program sponsored by the committee. Networking is more than handing out your business card. Business owners, entrepreneurs, professionals, salespersons, job seekers, employees new to the business world, businesspersons changing fields and others are learning how to "build their net" through networking. Participants learn everything from how to describe their ideal prospect to where to put their nametags and what to do about business cards, all without coming across as a peddler. Attendees learn how to identify their own gifts, and then how giving pays off in building long term business relationships. Sponsors Compass Bank Chamber Contact: |
